Description
Essiac Tea Powder – 1 lb (Eight 2 oz Packets)
Traditional 8-Herb Blend Created by Rene Caisse & Dr. Charles Brusch
Experience this authentic herbal tea blend based on the time-honored formula developed by Canadian nurse Rene Caisse and her colleague, Dr. Charles Brusch, MD. Each 1-lb package includes eight 2-oz packets, with each packet yielding ½ gallon of tea—for a total of 4 gallons per package.
Why Use 2 oz Packets?
- Convenient Storage
Brewed tea fits perfectly into two-quart jars, which are easy to store and take up minimal refrigerator space. - Right-Sized Portions
Each packet typically lasts one person 7–10 days, making it easy to manage your supply and minimize waste. - Maintains Freshness
Once brewed, the tea stays fresh in the fridge for 14–20 days. If the 2-oz packet is too much for your needs, the 1-oz Essiac Tea offers a more manageable portion.
Ingredients: The Classic 8-Herb Blend
- Blessed Thistle
- Burdock Root
- Kelp
- Red Clover
- Sheep Sorrel (with 20% Root)
- Slippery Elm Bark
- Turkish Rhubarb Root
- Watercress
Our formula follows Rene Caisse’s original specifications, including 20% Sheep Sorrel Root, which she considered essential for balance and quality. Since many suppliers omit the root, we’ve partnered with a private grower to ensure its presence in every batch.

About Essiac Tea Powder
Essiac is a traditional herbal blend used for generations and respected for its role in supporting overall wellness. The eight herbs in this formula are carefully balanced and ground into a fine powder to allow for easy brewing and optimal extraction.
The name “Essiac” is Caisse spelled backward, a tribute to Rene Caisse’s dedication to developing and preserving the formula. Between 1959 and 1967, Rene and Dr. Brusch conducted detailed research in Massachusetts, eventually expanding the original 4-herb blend into the enhanced 8-herb version still used today.
Historical Note on Cancer Use
Essiac Tea gained attention in the mid-20th century as a complementary option explored by individuals living with cancer, particularly those seeking natural approaches alongside conventional treatments. While many have shared personal stories about using the tea during their health journeys, Essiac is not a cancer treatment, and we do not make any medical claims regarding its use.
How to Brew Essiac Tea (Using 2 oz Packets)
- Add 68 oz of spring water to a stainless steel pot.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce to medium heat.
- Stir in the contents of one 2-oz packet and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Turn off the heat and let the tea cool, covered, for 12 hours at room temperature.
- Do not strain the herbs. Before pouring the tea into a two-quart container, stir well to mix the sediment.
- Store in the refrigerator and shake or stir before each use, as herbs settle at the bottom.
Tip:
Use a wide-mouth container with a fast-pour lid to make storing, serving, and cleaning easier.
Suggested Use
Drink 2 to 3 oz of brewed Essiac Tea, 2 to 3 times daily, preferably on an empty stomach. Aim to wait 2 hours before and 1 hour after eating. If that’s not possible, consistent use is more important than timing.
You can also mix Essiac with a splash of fruit or vegetable juice for taste. It’s best served cold; avoid reheating.
What to Expect
Some people experience more frequent bowel movements when starting the tea. This typically subsides within a few days and is generally considered a normal adjustment.
Why Powdered Herbs?
Powdered herbs allow for better extraction due to their fine texture and increased surface area. This means more of the herbs’ beneficial compounds are released during brewing. Our finely ground formula also allows you to consume the herbs along with the tea for full-spectrum benefits.
